We are registered with the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church [USA] as a Peace Church. This means we are actively engaged working, educating and advocating for peace and social justices issues in our city, state, nation and world. Our goal is to help bring the liberating message of Christ and the reconciling power of the Spirit to those areas of darkness and oppression.
We are committed to providing sanctuary for political refugees. Out of this conviction the congregation became a Sanctuary Church, meaning that we will provide support for refugees from any country that is oppressing its peoples. This has been most recently true for the peoples of Central and South American countries.
As a community of faith, we know the pain that exclusion can cause. Out of our belief in the Sovereignty of God for all people, we became a More Light congregation committing ourselves to the inclusion of gays and lesbians as full members in the life of our church. We are closely associated with More Light Presbyterians and the Covenant Network of Presbyterians. We work and minister to bring the Gospel message of acceptance and love to a community which has often been alienated from the Christian Church.
We understand the power addictions have in our lives and because of this, we act as host to more than thirty Twelve-Step recovery programs which meet in our facility weekly. Many of our members are actively involved in their own recovery as they help to facilitate some of these meetings.
