Christmas Eve Service
Please join us at 6PM on Christmas Eve for our annual evening service in the sanctuary or on Zoom! Following worship, stay for dessert reception in the Social Hall. Please bring your favorite dessert to share, childcare will be provided!
Growing Community Through Generosity
Seventh Avenue as it is could not exist without the support of our community. The church is the people, and we are thankful to those who give of their time, energy, and resources. We are rooted in San Francisco but our diaspora stretches over the oceans. As we move into 2025, you are invited to join us in upholding this beloved community and the work that is done as we try to make this world a more loving place. Fill out a pledge for next year here and we’re glad you’re with us!
Advent Retreat 2024
Pastor Jenna Meyers will facilitate our annual Advent retreat at Mercy Center in Burlingame on Saturday, December 7th 9AM - 4PM. During this daylong retreat, we will lean into this year's theme, “Believing Something Wild”, as we make our way to the Feast of the Nativity. Click on the photo for more information!
Perspectives: Courage for the Road Ahead
Our human bodies are well-equipped to respond to anything that frightens us. Fear may have had evolutionary value in our survival as a species, but courage plays an equally vital role. We dare to imagine and hope, to believe that change is possible, and to take risks individually and collectively. In this class we will explore how to strengthen courage in our attitudes and actions so that we can face whatever comes with boldness and confidence. Join us Sunday, October 27th at 11:30 AM in the sanctuary with Carolyn Foster, an SAPC member, coach, and retreat leader who lives in Alameda.
Contribute to Per Capita
The annual Per Capita Offering this year requires that we pay $39 for each adult member of our congregation, to our national organization. This amount is requested from you above and beyond your regular pledge offering. Please note “Per Capita” on your check, or select the “Per Capita” fund if giving online.
Perspectives: The Gospel of Thomas
The Gospel of Thomas text ‘wants to have a relationship with us'. Are you curious to find out why this is so? Please join our own Robin Mayforth in exploring this mystical text with Lectio Divina for Perspectives class Sunday at 11:30 AM in the sanctuary. Lectio Divina means “divine reading” for the purpose of listening to God for a personal word or phrase.
Kick Off Sunday!
Sunday, September 8th marks the beginning of the Sunday School calendar. Each week kids will share, read a verse or two, and of course lots of crafts! We hope to see you soon!
August 4th: Pew-less Podcast
On Sunday, August 4th, we will worship asynchronously via an audio recorded service (available at 6 AM), featuring voices of the community including our own Luba Kravchenko and Samantha Kostick with the wonderful Kathryn Price preaching a sermon from across the pond! Consider listening to the service in the park, on a walk, or sitting at your favorite sunlit window. (There will be NO in-person or Zoom worship that day.)
Summer Fun!
Sunday School is taking a break for the summer, but that doesn't mean the children of Seventh Avenue haven't been busy! Kids have had a chance to decorate tote bags to hold their Sunday folders (check out an amazing example), as well as plenty of time to play and draw! We have childcare every Sunday and we hope to see you this summer!
Hope is Here! Companions August Retreat in Tahoe
Genuine hope is often confused as merely wish fulfillment, optimism, or perceiving better tomorrows. How can we cultivate the inner resources necessary to work for change? Join Companions with Dr. Luther E. Smith Jr. at Zephyr Point in Tahoe for a week of exploration, reflection, and spiritual community. Register here for the August 4-9 retreat or on our website: https://cotiway.org/next-retreat/
Special Offering for Pentecost
This year for Pentecost, Seventh Avenue will be collecting a Special Offering donation for two essential community causes. 60% will go to support at-risk youth and young adults through and 40% will be donated to The Nā 'Aikāne o Maui Community Foundation, a non-profit in Lahaina that supports folks culturally, physically, and spiritually.
Last Day of Sunday School: Pentecost Sunday
We will be celebrating the end of the Sunday School year on Pentecost Sunday, May 19th. After that Sunday School will be taking a break for the summer, but don't worry, Sunday School will resume in September! As always, childcare will still be provided every week during the summer for children who want to play in the nursery.
Perspectives: April 28 & May 5
Join our own Tim Cahn and Helen Yune Trowbridge @ 11:30 AM in the sanctuary for a two-part series on essential personal documents. If you do nothing else to help yourself and your loved ones, you should prepare these three documents. In case you become incapacitated, they will help your loved ones help you, and in the certainty of your death, a proper will will be a gift to those you want to benefit. This Perspectives class will examine these three practical documents as well as engage common questions that come up when planning for one’s death.
No Service 4/14
No 10AM service on Sunday, instead please check your emails for our PewLess Sunday recording!
